Morton Park Kwanzan Cherry Volunteer Event

Recommended for families; Children must be accompanied

Help us preserve and protect our aging trees at historic Morton Park. Join us for a family volunteer event to help us spread a layer of mulch under the park’s grove of cherry trees. Later this fall, the Newport Tree Conservancy and Bartlett Tree Experts plan to rejuvenate the storied Kwanzan cherry grove by amending the soil with biochar. In preparation, we will be spreading a layer of mulch underneath the grove.

The more hands the better for the task, and you’ll be doing your part to protect these beautiful spring-flowering specimens! Please dress for the weather with closed-toe shoes. Tools will be provided. Bring your own gloves and water.

Unvaccinated folks will need to wear a mask.
